ere are a few testimonials from our previous visitors.

"Some of my fondest memories are of visiting the Lodge and the Hoskins family. I always received a warm welcome, revelled in the scenery and... oh! ... the food! I look forward to returning to Canada and bringing my husband and children to Kagamaga Lodge where I know we will enjoy a fantastic, old-time family holiday!"

Audra Making-Maio, Cardiff, Wales

"As we boat up the Pickerel to the lodge, our everyday cares are swept away by the waves and folded rocks of the Canadian Shield. We love the river…being on it, in it and by it with friends or on our own. Each summer we enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the Hoskins family…chatting on the deck, the fabulous food -- multicultural, beautifully prepared and delicious. Our European friends loved it too! See you next summer."

Bill and Lynne Celhoffer, Holland Center, Ontario

"We have been fortunate to be able to travel and see some of the world but there is no place we've been more at ease than on the deck of cabin 9 at Kagamaga. A four day stay there with our daughter and son in-law was a wonderful time spent."

Frances & Fraser McLellan - Gimli, Ontario Canada

"Although we have only been coming to Kagamaga for five years it seems so much longer. The River and all the amazing creatures that inhabit it's shores have truly captivated us and the Hoskins' family have made us feel like we've been going there forever, and always will."

Jo-Anne & Daryl - Thornhill, Ontario Canada

"We are not the most outdoors type of people but we must admit to being fascinated by the Pickerel River. Spending time with old friends is always a precious thing and going up to Kagamaga with some of ours made this last trip to Ontario a very memorable one indeed.Thank you Hoskins' family and we hope to be back soon."

Lesly & Richard Dawyduk - Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

"My husband and I have been returning to Kagamaga Lodge for relaxed holidays for at least fifteen years. It has become part of our summer routine. We often spend time at Kagamaga as a couple just 'getting away from it all', and then we have brought up our children and their growing families. We rent four cottages. The children, ages four to twelve, have freedom to play, swim, fish, hike, etc. - all safe and sound.

The cottages are furnished with all necessities as well as barbecues on each deck. The cottages are comfortable. Each one overlooks the half-moon bay of the Pickerel River. The main lodge has a matriarchal position centrally located among the cottages.

The view across the river is unparalleled: high cliffs of rock and green, lush bush. We canoe, kayak, rent fishing boats, sit on the main dock and have a libation or two. The choice is ours.

We often take our meals at the main lodge - always sumptuous and gourmet. The chefs are the owners. They serve spectacular meals. The owners, who are the Hoskins family, are accommodating, generous people. Part of the pleasure of visiting the Lodge is enjoying the company of this very dear family.

A telling testimony for the Kagamaga Lodge is the fact that we keep returning every summer, sometimes more than once. We certainly are 'Friends of Kagamaga' and hope to remain so for a long, long time!"

Gail G. Carter - Bayshore Village, Ontario

"Kagamaga has been our family´s vacation destination for 27 years. The location is unspoiled serenity, sparkling inviting water and a warm and welcoming Hoskins family. Our children have learning to water ski, fish and appreciate nature in its entire splendor.

We have witnessed the majesty of the Northern Lights and have heard the call of the loon and the splash of a beaver´s tail. Over the years we have made friends not only with the Hoskins but with other guests who have also become dear friends. We now schedule our vacations together, descending on Kagamaga for a week of camaraderie.

Kagamaga´s kitchen produces culinary delights. Each vacation includes a group dinner in the lodge prepared expertly by the Hoskins family. They even baked a cake for our son´s 30th birthday! As dusk falls, we inevitably move to the front deck overlooking the calm bay and watch the moon rise ending another day of swimming, boating, fishing, laughing, reading and napping.

Or is it? Of course, we could make a fire, or get out the cards or a board game and stay up for a few more hours! Our grandchildren are now enjoying the Kagamaga experience. This youngest was only 8 months for her first trip. Another generation of Kagamaga-ites is born…

See you at the Lodge!"

The Lee Family - Buffalo, New York

"Living in the Netherlands we do not get back to Canada as often as we would like but two of our trips have included a more than enjoyable time at Kagamaga. The first trip in 2002 was extra special as we were married on the balcony of cabin two. Mary, Dave, Tracy and Sandy made our day special by welcoming us into the "Kagamaga family". We have come to realize that this is done for each and ever Kagamaga visitor which is rare to say the least.

As it often happens in life when you hear "via via" about somewhere special it never quite lives up to expectations. Kagamaga met and surpassed all of ours. Our times there take me back to when I was a boy enjoying summer at its best and my wife and son cannot get enough of the area, the warmth of family Hoskins, walking, fishing, boating, swimming, all done at a pace that refreshes the soul. When you have fun on your vacation on a rainy day then you know you are in the right place. As my wife Johanne once commented, "it is like living in a Norman Rockwell painting".

Our next trip home is being planned around a Kagamaga visit. Great food, special hosts and good friends coupled with hummingbirds, fresh fish, unspoiled nature and laughter with your morning coffee, it can not come quick enough. "
